Flight or Fight

Posted by On March - 15 - 2010

With all of the crime out there, it is a valid question to ask, “when should I fight and when should I flight?”

Let’s face it, there are some times when you are being attacked and you should just run, and there are others when you should stay and protect yourself.

This is pretty easy to explain so I will not go into some drawn out explanation on when you should run and when you should fight, it’s pretty self explanatory.

If there is any time that you feel as if you are in physical danger, it might be a good idea to run…if you can. Sometimes you might be in a hostage situation where you know you can’t run without being harmed; you might wanna stay still in that situation until some type of help comes.

If you find yourself in verbal danger, you might want to run from this also. Now don’t get me wrong when you are hearing me tell you to run from everything because that’s not the case, but you do know that there are situations when you should just walk away.

If you are being verbally battered, you might not wanna stand for that. Some people thrive off of punishing the weak minded and you do not want to be one of those people. You have to be strong and consistent. Be fair when its time to be fair, admit your wrong doings, and defend yourself when you know your right!

If all else fails and an argument is getting nowhere, end it and move on. You will not accomplish anything when you are arguing with someone that makes no sense and just wants to argue.

Overall, knowing when to fight or flight, is programmed in your very soul. If you are in danger you know you should get out of there, FAST.

I guess the main point of this post was to explain the different situations one might want to fight or flight while in a verbal confrontation.

I hope this helped somewhat and if you have any questions, leave them in comment section below.

Wholesale Pepper Spray Anyone?

Posted by On October - 20 - 2009

Wholesale pepper spray is something that is not easy to find.

A lot of people out there claim to know where to find wholesale pepper spray and believe me when I tell you that it is hard to come by. Although I don’t have a definite answer on where to buy wholesale pepper spray, I do have a couple ideas that will get you along the lines of finding sprays at the right price.

In order to buy wholesale sprays you have to have a store of some sort. If not then the next best thing is knowing of a place that sells defense sprays at a good price. This is where I come in.

The main thing to know is that you are going to get what you pay for. If you want a spray that is strong and effective, you are going to pay a little more for it than one of the knock off brands.

Typically a good wholesale pepper spray will retail for around $8.00 - $15.00 a piece. If you are someone that owns a self defense products store you can check through certain websites for a “wholesale” section and could possibly buy your sprays for a discounted price.

Besides that though what you want to do is make sure you are buying a good pepper spray for a good price.

Another thing you want to consider when buying a self defense spray is the amount of active ingredient. Remember that the higher the amount of active ingredient you have, the more effective it will be. This is by far the only part of your shopping that you do not want to skimp on. If it has a high active ingredient then you probably want to go with it. Anything over 16% active ingredient is would be best.

So there you have it. Hopefully now with all of this new found information, you will be able to buy exactly what you are looking for…wholesale pepper spray.

Now here is where the fun begins. Below I have a link for all aspiring pepper spray salesman and woman alike. If you are just looking for a discounted pepper spray, you can find it here also. PeopleProtection.com is your one stop shop for all wholesale and discounted pepper spray.

My Bout With Procrastination

Posted by On July - 21 - 2009

OK so since I am always preaching the “how to defend yourself” sermon, I thought I would tell you how to defend yourself from something else, procrastination.

I recently came up with a game that both myself and my business partner went through with. This game believe it or not has helped us achieve an amazing amount of success. Not that anything or anyone helped us, we just got off our asses and did some work.

The “game” however helped us out quite a bit. Because of the game we were able (had) to do what we needed to get done.

I will not go into detail right now on what this so called game involves but I will be coming up with a product very soon that I know everyone will love.

If this “game” can take me from 500 twitter followers to over 9,000 and blog hits ranging from 10 a day to over 400 hundred what can it do for you?

Be sure you come back and check everything out so you can see what I’m talking about. Well, good luck and I wish you the best.

P.S. sorry I didn’t explain to much but you will see why in a few weeks.

Take Care!

Brain Gym’s? Are They Really Out There?

Posted by User Image On March - 30 - 2009

OK so the other day I was reading the Wall Street Journal and I read that in California, Florida, Arizona and other retirement communities they are building a new activity for the elderly and the retirees called brain gym’s.

Yep you heard me right. These gyms are supposed to help senior citizens cope with mental degeneration.

Companies are setting up shop offering monthly memberships to anyone that wants to join. The cost for these brain gyms range anywhere between $30-$60 a month. Retirees are loving it and more and more are joining. Since December 2007 a company located in Florida has seen a 50% boost in monthly memberships.

I think this is awesome and also an awesome business idea. The best part of this whole idea is that not only  are retirees joining but middle aged and young people too.

My question to you is whether or not you thing this is a good idea or not. And if so, do you think it would be a good idea in your area? Please leave your comment below! Go Brain Gym!

Changing Lives

Posted by User Image On February - 6 - 2009

Some years ago, I attended a self-improvement seminar and the speaker was Jim Rohn. He said, “Everything matters in life, some things a little and some things a lot, we just don’t know which is which.” Moreover, I believed him.

Now if I may, I would like to relate a personal experience, which occurred when I was a motorcycle officer that strengthened this belief and taught a young man that everything in life does indeed matter.

I was a motorcycle officer with the Los Angeles Police Department and I was working speed complaints out of West Traffic Division. On 6 January 1986, I was working a speed complaint on one of the streets in the hills of Bel Air. It was around 9:30 in the morning. I had stopped at the base of a hill and had placed my radar on the handlebar of my motorcycle to monitor traffic coming down the hill.

This was a residential area and the road was narrow with numerous curves and was posted at 25 miles per hour. I had just finished writing a couple of tickets when I heard the audio on the radar, looked up the road and saw a small sports car coming down the hill. I glanced at the digital readout on the radar unit and saw that the car was traveling close to 50 miles per hour. I stepped out into the street and waved the driver over to the curb.

The driver was a young man in his early 20’s on his way to UCLA for a morning class. I told him why I had stopped him and started to write him a ticket. He, of course, did not want the ticket and tried to talk me out of it. His name was Christopher and he was a good kid. Nevertheless, he was trying his best to stop me from writing him a ticket. Never rude, always polite, but determined to convince me to let him go.

We bantered back and forth, he would raise his voice in support of his position, but I calmly explained why he should get the ticket. When he saw I was still going to write him the ticket, he asked me, “What If I had not stopped; you were not on your motorcycle, would you have chased me?” I replied, “Most likely not”.

About this time, I heard the audio on the radar and noticed that the digital readout registered 52 miles per hour. I looked up and saw a young man coming down the hill on a motorcycle. I stepped out in front of him and waved him into the curb. He was going too fast and passed us, but he was slowing down. I walked towards the motorcycle rider and my back was to Christopher.

The motorcyclist had turned around and was coming back to me. The he suddenly made a quick U-turn and sped down the hill. I turned around and walked back to Christopher and said, “Well, one got away.”

He said, “I waved him on”.

I said, “What?”

He said, “I waved him on.”

I replied, “Oh, no! You should not have done that.”

He had a puzzled look on his face and asked, “Why not, it won’t matter?”

I told him everything in life matters, some things a little and some things a lot. We just do not know which is which. The look on Christopher’s face clearly indicated to me that he did not believe me. I finished the ticket and we talked a little more about life and philosophy, then Christopher went to class and I went to court.

Three days later, I was back working that same area and had three cars stopped. While I was writing the tickets, I noticed that a car coming up the hill had stopped across from me. There were three or four people in the car. It was obvious to me that they were waiting to talk to me.

I finished the last ticket and the driver of the car got out and walked over to me. He had a very sad look about him. I could tell something was bothering him. As he approached me, he asked, “Do you remember me?”

“Yes,” I replied, “you are Christopher.”

He then said, “You taught me a valuable lesson the other day when you told me that everything in life matters. I didn’t believe you then, but now I do.”

“How do you mean?” I asked.

“Do you remember the boy on the motorcycle?” he asked.

“Yes,” I replied, “I do remember him.”

“Well,” he said, “he was my roommate and that is why I waved him on. I thought I was helping him. After he turned around, he made a wrong turn and went down a street, which ended in a cul-de-sac and hit a large planter in the center of the cul-de-sac. He died instantly. You were right when you said everything in life matters.”

I was shocked and found it hard to believe, even though I had been with LAPD for 18 ½ years. We talked for a few more minutes. I expressed my sorrow, we shook hands and then we both left.

I rode to the station in Venice and looked up the traffic reports for 6 January and sure enough, there it was. I still could not believe it. I mentioned what had happened to another officer whose was in the station at the time. His response was that the kid deserved to die for fleeing the scene; I thought this could not be happening; I do not want to be like him.

As police officers and especially motor officers we are suppose to be saving lives, not pleased because some kid made a bad decision and died. Over the next several days, I gave a lot of thought to this situation and my life in general. I decided I did not want to be a police officer anymore and I needed a change. So I resigned in February 1986 after 18 ½ years with LAPD to pursue my passion, network marketing.

I thought that I should listen to my own advice about how everything matters and look at this situation as an opportunity to make some serious changes in my life. I have never regretted leaving LAPD even though my business plans did not quite work the way I had hoped back in 1986. However, over the years, they have and I have had a successful network marketing business since 1995.

Could now be the time for you to make a life change? If it is, I would encourage you to do so. Based on my experience you will not be sorry. I turned 65 in September 2008; I am in great health and could not be happier.

Mind like Water

Posted by User Image On January - 28 - 2009

Have you ever read the book by David Allen called: “Getting Things Done”? If you have that might be the reason you found this article.

I have been struggling personally with productivity and procrastination. I can’t tell you how many days I decided to get up and get things done only to fall short of the prize. After so many defeats you realize that you are doing something wrong. When I finally hit that point I turned to David Allen’s technique of “Mind like Water.”

Mind like Water basically means an all around calm, relaxing feeling towards whatever might come your way. Like water, you are supposed to be able to handle any size rock that comes your way. If you have noticed, when you throw a rock into water it responds accordingly, by rippling. After a few seconds it is back to the way it was originally; calm. This is the way you and I should react to “rocks” in the water.

When we come face to face with a situation that ruffles our feathers our mind should go right back to the calm, water like state. This is one of the key techniques taught by David Allen and what has helped me profusely.

I have learned so much over the last week that I cannot begin to tell you how good it feels. I have ALMOST everything organized and have really started to apply my mind like water technique to my business. I had soooooo many things on my mind it took me over three hours to empty it all. After a while though a serene, quiet feeling came over me and I felt like a thousand pounds had been lifted off my back.

I talk a lot about “Mental Self Defense” on my blog and one of the arts that is practiced there is the “Mind Like Water” approach to business and life.

If you feel that you are not getting things done the way they should be done or you just feel like you have too much on your mind, study the mind like water approach to life. It has helped me and it can DEFINITELY help you.

Mental Self Defense: Your Will

Posted by User Image On December - 31 - 2008

OK everyone before I get started I just want to tell you that this post is going to be quick. PLEASE READ THOUGH! Since it is going to be quick it will only take you a couple of minutes to review and learn, what do you have to loose? OK so enough with the blabbering lets get started.

Do you ever have a hard time completing your goals? Do you really want the best for yourself but just can’t stop procrastinating? I am the same way and because of that I have been looking and searching for ways to rid myself of it. After all the years I have been looking guess what, I found nothing. Do you want to know that reason I found nothing? Let me explain.

When you are having trouble working or getting motivated there is something in you that needs to be released and guess what that is…CONTROL. You have to get control of yourself because the only thing that is going to make you work or help you out is, here’s the clincher…YOU! Now don’t get me wrong, there are people and things out there that can help you but ultimately the decision is up to you. You have to get up early in the morning, work hard, keep yourself motivated, study, and whatever else you might have to do to make progress.

I was recently trying to think of a new product to sell on my site and after going through several including but not limited to new Streetwise pepper sprays, 16 Inch Telescopic Steel Baton’s, and Streetwise 800k Stun Baton’s, I started to get discouraged and quit. I actually got up from my desk and quit working for almost two hours. After that time I kicked myself in the ass and got back to work. Why would something so stupid discourage me and prevent me from working? It was all in my head and as soon as I realized that I got back to work and have never looked back.

This is something you can do also. Keep focused and remember that you are either your best or worse enemy. Stay positive, keep focus, and NEVER QUIT.

Mental Affirmations!

Posted by User Image On December - 16 - 2008

There are a lot of factors that decide someone’s success in almost every situation. One of the most important CONTROLLED factors that determine success is your mental attitude. If ever plan on defending yourself you have to make sure you have the attitude of a winner. You must tell yourself constantly “I like myself!” You have to keep your head up and always be aware of what is going on around you. If you happen to find yourself in a scuffle, you cant always count on having your pepper spray handy!

Below I have listed a couple affirmations I found to be very effective with battling mental bullying. These are things you must do if you ever plan on defeating your mental habits. Remember: mental habits are what make people winners and looser or victors and victims. If you tell yourself you will loose at something, a fight, then that is most likely what is going to happen.

When you are trying to defend yourself you have to tell yourself that you will make it out of whatever happens perfectly fine. These are key mental strategies that are crucial for success. OK so here we are, let’s get into a few tips you can use that can also change your life.

1.) Tell yourself “I Like Myself!” I try to say this about 50 times a day. I usually say it to myself and not out loud, but if your home alone and you want a nice pick me up, scream it. Who cares if someone hears you. The reason I say to do this is because usually during the day people are belittling themselves in their own mind. You don’t realize it but a lot of times you might say things to yourself like “I cant do this”, or “I will never have the money to pay my bills.” These sayings are exactly the opposite of saying “I like myself!” People harm themselves so much in a days time by saying those things, why not say something good to yourself.

2.) Always think in a way that is BENEFICIAL to you. When ever you do something, tell yourself you are going to make it out OK or that it is going to end up good for you. This can be everything from playing chess to surviving a life and death situation. What you say to yourself becomes reality. When you feel you are pressed up against the wall, press back. Tell yourself that you will be fine and that everything going on right now is there to benefit you. Remember that the difference between successful people and non-successful people is what they say to themselves on a continual basis. Stay positive!

Those are just a couple of tips you can use to win an altercation. You have to defend your mind before you will ever be able to defend yourself.

Working Through the Hard Times!

Posted by User Image On December - 13 - 2008

Have you ever found yourself wondering what was going to happen next? Do you work on something so hard only to find a lack of immediate gratification? These are questions I have asked myself routinely throughout the past couple months. I have been working on things without fail for a while now and I have just not made the progress I thought I would have.

Would you stop or quit after a while of not making any sales or progress? I have done this before only to be disappointed later. When you work at something so hard and then quit, you defeat everything else you plan on doing in the future.

I am at a point where I would love to see some immediate gratification. Am I going to quit? Nope. I have a poem I read every time I get a little discouraged or down. I want to share it with you in hopes it will lift you up through your day to day endeavours.

Don’t Quit
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won if he’d stuck it out.
Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are -
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit -
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.
–Author Unknown

If you are someone that has been reading my posts then you know that I sell self defense products. I sell pepper spray canisters, stun guns, and stun batons. The poem listed is something I know can help you. If you are ever down or depressed read it and truck on. You never really know how close you are to a sale or to a breakthrough. Keep it going and make sure your “Mental Self Defense” is up!

Mental Defense: Part 2

Posted by User Image On December - 12 - 2008

OK my friends here we are again with another part to this amazing series. This has to be my favorite post so far and I love talking about these kinds of things. If you have not done so yet, make sure you read “Defending Yourself: Mental Defense!” That was the first part of that series and leads into this one so don’t cheat.

Now what I was talking about in part one was three key techniques you needed in order to succeed at defending yourself from well…yourself. You can be your own worst enemy and you can be your own savior. You pick what you want to think and how you act. If you follow the words I just said then you probably don’t have to read the rest of this post because you already know what it is you have to do.

OK now with the next three parts. Please if you have any questions always feel free to e-mail me at info@peopleprotection.com,

1.) Study: Every day even if it’s one page, read something that will help you grow. Read something that is informational and or inspiring. Experts say you should do this within the first half hour of getting up in the morning. They call this the power hour and your mind is more suceptable to taking valuable information in than any other time of day. I have tried it and it works great.

2.) Be Aware of Your Surroundings: Now I don’t mean you should watch and see what types of buildings you have around you or the license plate numbers of certain cars, although these things would not be a bad idea for self defense purposes. What I mean is watch who you surround yourself with. If you ever feel that someone is too negative or pessimistic, keep away. If this is a family member do your best not to listen to all of their negative thoughts. Keep yourself surrounded by positive, uplifting people that will bring you up and not down. I have a couple family members that just thrive on being negative. I love them with all my heart but I just cant stand their views on life. I just keep myself focused on the good and everything works out fine.

3.) Start a Positive People’s Group: Believe it or not we have a positive people’s group here where I live. Every week or so people get together, eat, and fellowship with each other in a postitive way. If you already have something like this in your area then I encourage you to join and attend the meetings. It is an awesome time and you get to network with tons of people that you otherwise wouldn’t have known.

So now we have a total of 6 tips I recommend for keeping you out of “mental” harms way. Please just practice one at a time and test it out. What works for some doesn’t work for others. Keep your mental self defense up and everything in your life will come out on top…I guarantee it.
