How to defend everything in your life!

Archive for June, 2009

Anything you carry on you can be used against you as a weapon. Things like pepper spray are fine if you know when to use them and have time to get away.

There are places that offer free self-defense classes to women. You’ll just have to call a general information line in your community or become more involved. Try asking the YMCA. Most communities offer them free of charge. If for some reason you can’t find a free self defense class you are just gonna have to pay. Most self defense classes range anywhere from $45.00 to $180 a month. My hapkido classes were $180.00 a month and worth every penny.

Another thing to keep in mind is having a small weapon on you at all times. Keeping a pepper spray or small steel baton will keep things in order.

One more thing before I set off; the cost of class should have little weight when deciding to protect yourself. If you have to spend a little money to keep safe and protected, do it!

I would spend some serious cash if it meant I could protect my family and friends when stuff started going crazy.

Remember, if you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me or leave a comment. I check them all the time and will be glad to help ya out. Until next time, Be Safe!

Being disabled does not mean you can’t defend yourself. There are several different martial art techniques you can use if you are disabled.

Depending on the severity of your disability you can learn something like Ju Jitsu or hapkido. Both of these do not require you to be on your feet to take an opponent down. On top of that, Hapkido uses pressure points and body manipulation to take your opponent down.

I studied Hapkido for a bit and trust me, you don’t want to mess with someone that has actually studied the art. Other than that you can always buy some type of weapon like a steel baton or stung gun. Let’s face it, most people do not have the time or money to practice a martial art so the next best thing is one of those cost effective, handy weapons.

This is one of my favorite questions. Since you have no experience and are looking to learn how to defend yourself, you have many options. You can choose from a number of martial arts but some are harder than others. One thing you have to take into account is your fitness level and age. If you are older yet very fit, most martial arts will accept you well. However, if your young and cant even touch your toes you should watch out. Martial arts is very demanding and you have to remember the details to minimize your chances of getting hurt.

So since you want to know what style of self defense would be best for you, I have come up with a variety of options. The first one is my opinion on one of the easiest martial arts to jump into. After that I have listed some alternate options that might help you if you decide not to go down self-defense lane.

1.) Karate

Karate is one of my favorite styles of self defense. If you would ask me which martial art is the easiest I would have to say this one. Now I am not saying this martial art is weak by any means but it would have to be one of the easiest ones.

2.) Pepper Spray Anyone?

If you feel you don’t have the experience nor the will power to go through with martial arts there are a couple of options for you. You can simply carry a pepper spray or stun gun, that will do the trick. I know so many people that do just that and they tell me they automatically feel ten times safer.

3.) Who Likes Running?

This may sound really stupid but if you can run faster than your assailant, you have the upper hand. Most crooks and burglars are weak and out of shape. If you are mugged or attacked by someone that you know you cant beat, run. If it means you being a little safer who cares whether you ran away or not.

Telescopic Batons

Posted by On June - 17 - 2009

Hello there people. Just wanted to explain a few things to you in regards to telescopic batons.

I know this may not be a huge subject but this is one of those self defense products I feel everyone should have.

The telescopic baton is one of those products most people don’t know about.

Here are a few facts I thought you would like.

1.) The telescopic baton is about 9 inches in length when closed.

2.) Most of them are made with hardened steel and will pretty much bust a cap in someones face. (ha ha)

3.) When they are extended they can reach anywhere from 16, 21, or 26 inches.

They are just a good choice when it comes to self defense.

When it comes to telescopic batons they resemble that of a light saber from star wars. All you do is thrust out your hand and bam, you have a metal sword. I keep one in the house and a couple of my family members have decided to partake in the steel baton.

So if your interested in the telescopic batons check them out here: Telescopic Baton

Whats The Best Stun Gun?

Posted by On June - 16 - 2009

Well folks if you are looking for the best stun gun you have come to the right place.

I know I am always popping off about self defense and what not but I want you to know that I also have some products you might like. Every once and a while people ask me what they think the best stun gun is and I can only answer as follows.

The best stun gun to buy is any stun gun the will keep you safe. I know, I know your probably saying to yourself that there are probably a million stun guns out there so how can I tell you that the best one is a stun gun that keeps you safe?

If your looking for the best stun gun thats like asking what the best cloths are to wear. Its all about personal preference.

There are cell phone stun guns, pager stun guns, powerful stun guns and weak stun guns. If your looking for a variety to choose from them click here: The Best Stun Gun!

While your looking keep these couple tips in mind; always pick one with as high of voltage as you can afford. Also if you can, pick one that is disguised. Disguised stun guns are awesome because and assailant wont know what hit them when they get stunned with a cell phone stun gun.

I know I didn’t tell you what the best stun gun was but at least you have a good idea of how to choose the right stun gun for you. Good luck and be safe.

Should I Have a Security Camera In My House?

Posted by On June - 9 - 2009

Hey there fellow bloggers. Recently I received a question asking me if it would be beneficial to have a security camera in their house.
Now as soon as most people hear the word security camera the dollar signs start to flash in from of their eyes. People automatically think that they have to spend hundreds if not thousands on a security system. What if I told you that you can own a security camera for less than $80.00 and in some cases even cheaper than that? Well you can, they really aren’t that expensive.

But to answer this persons question, yes, I would and do have a security camera in my home. They are cheap and can provide much needed evidence if someone where to break into your home and steal your belongings. I mean how nice would it be if you had a camera showing exactly who it was, when they came in, and what they stole sitting there for the autorities to see?

Now some people might ask if it would still work if they were disguised? Listen here folks, 90% of thieves and burglars are STUPID. They are looking for money for their next drug fix and don’t think far enough in advance to disguise themselves.

Another question you might have is whether or not a security camera is hard to install? Nope. They are very easy to install. If you can plug a plug into the wall you can set up a security camera. They are extremely easy to use.

So lets recap everything to see what we have.

1.) They are fairly inexpensive costing less than $80.00

2.) They are extremely effective at busting burglars and thieves and or anyone else you might want to spy on. (babysitter, husband, wife, etc.)
3.) They are easy to install.
Now with a track record like that, there is no reason not to get one.
Hope this helps everyone out. If you have any comments or questions please leave them in the comment section below. If you have a security question let me know and I will feature it on next weeks post.

Self Defense For The Jogger

Posted by On June - 2 - 2009

Ok people. With this being a huge question now a days I had to answer it. Although it may sound simple, more and more people are wondering what they should be carrying when they are jogging. Since most people jog or run outside this is something people should really pay attention to.

Lucky for you, you have me to explain these types of things. What would you do without me? Ok enough with my ego let’s begin shall we.

This is not something hard here folk’s just simple self defense common sense. So what should you carry while running or jogging outside?

I tell all of my relatives to carry a stun gun or pepper spray with them. Each has its pros and cons but are extremely effective when protecting you from a low life mugger. Either a 100k jolt from a stun gun or quick burst of flames from one of peopleprotection.com’s pepper sprays would do the trick.

There are thousands and thousands of people mugged each week and a little knowledge on how to defend oneself is all they need.

I know this isn’t a long and drawn out post but it’s pretty simple eh? Make sure when you go out and about you bring something with you that can deter an attacker. Your goal in life is to never become a victim. Good luck and be safe.
